Impact of Jimbo Fisher and Zach Arnett Firings on Alabama

Nick Saban Reacts to Firing of Jimbo Fisher and Zach Arnett

Two SEC head coaches have been let go in recent weeks, with Mississippi State's Zach Arnett and Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher both being relieved of their duties. The firings have sent shockwaves through the college football world, and have led to speculation about the impact they could have on Alabama, who faced both teams earlier this season.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban was asked about the firings during his weekly press conference on Monday, and he said that he was "surprised" by both moves. Saban said that he has a lot of respect for both Arnett and Fisher, and that he wishes them well in their future endeavors.

"I think they're both good coaches," Saban said. "I think they both had a lot of success at their previous schools. I think they both had some challenges at their new schools, but I think they're both capable of being successful coaches." Saban also said that he doesn't think the firings will have a major impact on Alabama's preparation for the upcoming Iron Bowl against Auburn. Saban said that Alabama will focus on what they can control, and that they won't be worried about what's happening at other schools.

"We're going to focus on our team," Saban said. "We're going to focus on trying to improve and get better. We're going to focus on trying to win the Iron Bowl." Alabama will face Auburn in the Iron Bowl on Saturday, November 26, at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on CBS.
